ਆਪਿ ਤਰੈ ਸਗਲੇ ਕੁਲ ਤਾਰੇ; ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ. ਪਤਿ ਸਿਉ ਜਾਇਦਾ ॥੬॥
You shall save yourself, and save all your generations as well. You shall go to the Court of the Lord with honor. ||6||
ਖੰਡ ਪਤਾਲ ਦੀਪ ਸਭਿ ਲੋਆ ॥
All the continents, nether worlds, islands and worlds
ਸਭਿ ਕਾਲੈ ਵਸਿ; ਆਪਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕੀਆ ॥
God Himself has made them all subject to death.
ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਏਕੁ ਆਪਿ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ; ਸੋ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ. ਜੋ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਧਿਆਇਦਾ ॥੭॥
The One Imperishable Lord Himself is unmoving and unchanging. Meditating on Him, one becomes unchanging. ||7||
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਸੇਵਕੁ; ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਜੇਹਾ ॥
The Lord's servant becomes like the Lord.
ਭੇਦੁ. ਨ ਜਾਣਹੁ; ਮਾਣਸ ਦੇਹਾ ॥
Do not think that, because of his human body, he is different.
ਜਿਉ ਜਲ ਤਰੰਗ ਉਠਹਿ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤੀ; ਫਿਰਿ ਸਲਲੈ ਸਲਲ ਸਮਾਇਦਾ ॥੮॥
The waves of the water rise up in various ways, and then the water merges again in water. ||8||
ਇਕੁ ਜਾਚਿਕੁ. ਮੰਗੈ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੁਆਰੈ ॥
A beggar begs for charity at His Door.
ਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ; ਤਾ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੈ ॥
When God pleases, He takes pity on him.
ਦੇਹੁ ਦਰਸੁ. ਜਿਤੁ ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਸੈ; ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨਿ ਮਨੁ ਠਹਰਾਇਦਾ ॥੯॥

ਰੂੜੋ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ; ਕਿਤੈ ਵਸਿ. ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥
The Beauteous Lord and Master is not controlled in any way.
ਹਰਿ ਸੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੇ; ਜਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਆ ਸੰਤਾ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
The Lord does that which pleases the Saints of the Lord.
ਕੀਤਾ ਲੋੜਨਿ. ਸੋਈ ਕਰਾਇਨਿ; ਦਰਿ ਫੇਰੁ. ਨ ਕੋਈ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੦॥
He does whatever they wish to be done; nothing blocks their way at His Door. ||10||
ਜਿਥੈ; ਅਉਘਟੁ ਆਇ ਬਨਤੁ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ॥
Wherever the mortal is confronted with difficulty,
ਤਿਥੈ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸਾਰਿੰਗਪਾਣੀ ॥
there he should meditate on the Lord of the Universe.
ਜਿਥੈ ਪੁਤ੍ਰੁ ਕਲਤ੍ਰੁ. ਨ ਬੇਲੀ ਕੋਈ; ਤਿਥੈ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਛਡਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੧॥
Where there are no children, spouse or friends, there the Lord Himself comes to the rescue. ||11||
ਵਡਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਅਗਮ ਅਥਾਹਾ ॥
The Great Lord and Master is inaccessible and unfathomable.
ਕਿਉ ਮਿਲੀਐ; ਪ੍ਰਭ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹਾ ॥
How can anyone meet with God, the self-suficient One?
ਕਾਟਿ ਸਿਲਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪਾਏ; ਸੋ ਵਿਚਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੨॥

ਹੁਕਮੁ ਬੂਝੈ; ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਕਹੀਐ ॥
One who realizes the Hukam of the Lord's Command is said to be His servant.
ਬੁਰਾ ਭਲਾ ਦੁਇ; ਸਮਸਰਿ ਸਹੀਐ ॥
He endures both bad and good equally.
ਹਉਮੈ ਜਾਇ ਤ ਏਕੋ ਬੂਝੈ; ਸੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੩॥
When egotism is silenced, then one comes to know the One Lord. Such a Gurmukh intuitively merges in the Lord. ||13||
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਭਗਤ; ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਵਾਸੀ ॥
The devotees of the Lord dwell forever in peace.
ਬਾਲ ਸੁਭਾਇ; ਅਤੀਤ ਉਦਾਸੀ ॥
With a child-like, innocent nature, they remain detached, turning away from the world.
ਅਨਿਕ ਰੰਗ ਕਰਹਿ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤੀ; ਜਿਉ ਪਿਤਾ ਪੂਤੁ ਲਾਡਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੪॥
They enjoy various pleasures in many ways; God caresses them, like a father caressing his son. ||14||
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ; ਕੀਮਤਿ. ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈ ॥
He is inaccessible and unfathomable; His value cannot be estimated.
ਤਾ ਮਿਲੀਐ; ਜਾ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥
We meet Him, only when He causes us to meet.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁ ਭਇਆ ਤਿਨ ਜਨ ਕਉ; ਜਿਨ ਧੁਰਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲੇਖੁ ਲਿਖਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੫॥
The Lord is revealed to those humble Gurmukhs, who have such pre-ordained destiny inscribed upon their foreheads. ||15||
ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ; ਕਾਰਣ ਕਰਣਾ ॥
You Yourself are the Creator Lord, the Cause of causes.
ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਇ, ਧਰੀ ਸਭ ਧਰਣਾ ॥
You created the Universe, and You support the whole earth.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਦੁਆਰੈ; ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਲਾਜ ਰਖਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੬॥੧॥੫॥
Servant Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of Your Door, O Lord; if it is Your Will, please preserve his honor. ||16||1||5||

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਜੋ ਦੀਸੈ; ਸੋ ਏਕੋ ਤੂਹੈ ॥
Whatever is seen is You, O One Lord.
ਬਾਣੀ ਤੇਰੀ; ਸ੍ਰਵਣਿ ਸੁਣੀਐ ॥
What the ears hear is the Word of Your Bani.
ਦੂਜੀ ਅਵਰ. ਨ ਜਾਪਸਿ ਕਾਈ; ਸਗਲ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਧਾਰਣਾ ॥੧॥
There is nothing else to be seen at all. You give support to all. ||1||
ਆਪਿ ਚਿਤਾਰੇ ਅਪਣਾ ਕੀਆ ॥
You Yourself are conscious of Your Creation.
ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਆਪਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਥੀਆ ॥
You Yourself established Yourself, O God.
ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਇ ਰਚਿਓਨੁ ਪਸਾਰਾ; ਆਪੇ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਸਾਰਣਾ ॥੨॥
Creating Yourself, You formed the expanse of the Universe; You Yourself cherish and sustain each and every heart. ||2||
ਇਕਿ ਉਪਾਏ, ਵਡ ਦਰਵਾਰੀ ॥
You created some to hold great and royal courts.
ਇਕਿ ਉਦਾਸੀ; ਇਕਿ ਘਰ ਬਾਰੀ ॥
Some turn away from the world in renunciation, and some maintain their households.
